Wireless Internet Access
Free wireless Internet
access is available at C. E. Weldon Public Library. You
don't need a plug or phone jack, just turn on your
notebook/laptop computer or other wireless device and start
surfing.
Technical
Requirements
-
Wireless capable devices must conform to the
802.11b or 802.11g standard.
-
Wireless capable devices should automatically
obtain an IP address (DHCP, bootP, etc.)
-
Patrons must know how to set up a network or
wireless profile using the software on their devices.
-
If signal strength is not good, patrons should
move about the library to locate a stronger or better
quality signal.
-
Some wireless capable devices have a physical
switch which must be turned on in order to connect to
wireless networks.
If you are not sure if
your notebook/laptop computer or other device meets these
requirements, please check with the manufacturer or supplier
of your equipment. If your notebook/laptop computer or other
device does not include wireless networking, you may be able
to purchase a variety of external notebook/laptop pc cards
and USB devices. The manufacturer or supplier of your
equipment, or local technology merchants can help you find
the right product for your notebook/laptop computer or other
device.
Wireless Internet Access Policy
-
All
persons accessing the wireless Internet via the Library
must comply with current C. E. Weldon Public Library

Internet are provided by the Library free of charge to
patrons with appropriate computers receiving the signal
provided (802.11b or 802.11g wireless networking).

the Children’s Internet Protection Act, library users

-
Use of the Library’s
wireless connection is at the patron’s own risk.
Information sent to and from your computer using the
wireless connection can be captured by anyone else with
a wireless device and the appropriate software.
-
Library staff cannot
configure the user’s computers since everyone’s device
is different and the Library cannot accept the liability
of handling patron equipment.
-
The Library is not
responsible for any changes made to your settings to
access the wireless network.
-
Printing is not
available via the Library’s wireless connection.
-
The Library does not
assume any liability from loss or damage to patron
equipment. Patron laptops and peripherals may not be
