The children’s section of the C. E. Weldon Public Library is located in the basement of the library.
The Children’s Library offers a fun and exciting environment for your child to learn and grow. We offer many programs for all ages from September through May. Those can be found here.
During the school year, we offer tours of the library to Martin Primary School students to promote the Summer Reading Program.
The Summer Reading Program runs eight weeks, beginning the first week of June. Children who sign up for the reading program check out books and return them for prizes. Prizes consist of bags of toys or coupons to a business in the area. At the end of the program, medals and trophies are awarded for achieving certain point levels. Many special activities and programs are scheduled during the summer program.
We believe our Children’s Library is a place where your children will feel comfortable and can learn to enjoy books. We hope you will find our library enjoyable and will visit often.
Director of Children's Library Services
We have several Ellison Dies, many of which have been donated through the generosity of groups and individuals. The Ellison Dies are a series of stamps and a press that cuts shapes from paper. They are located in the Children's Library Workroom. For a list of shapes available click here. We are happy to make these available to the public. We also have a Cricut personal cutting machine for your use.
Children's International Education Center
The Beta Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma supports the library through gifts to the Children's International Education Center. In addition to the international items on display in the library, they donate many multi-cultural books to the library.
