It’s time to register for the Summer Reading Program! Be sure to have your photo taken with Pete the Cat and stop by our Scholastic Book Fair while you’re here. Every purchase at the book fair supports the children’s department AND gets your name entered into a drawing for a prize!

Summer Reading Program Launch Party

The Summer Reading Program Launch Party will be Monday, June 3rd from 3 to 4 PM. We will have activities, giveaways, and photo ops. Fast Pace Urgent Care will also be here with cotton candy!


Night Sky PJ Party

Join us for a very special pajama party on June 10th at 6 PM. Have fun while learning about what we are actually seeing when we look at the night sky.

Summer Reading Book Walk

The Summer Reading Book Walk will begin June 17th at 10 AM at the Martin Parks and Rec Complex. We will meet at the Rotary Pavilion. The Book Walk promotes literacy, reading together and physical fitness. Families and groups are encouraged to participate in this free event. Take a walk along the fitness trail to enjoy the children’s book “How to Catch a Star” posted along the trail. At designated stops you will find an activity to perform. By the last page you should be back at the Rotary Pavilion for refreshments.


Mr. Bond and the Science Guys

Mr. Bond's Science Guys present Space!: A Universe of Stories on June 24th at 3 PM.  Dozens of interactive experiments about life in space, rocket propulsion, centrifugal force, planets and orbits. Learn about the Solar System with everyone's favorite, the Hoberman Sphere!

Ready Jet Go! Party

Earth science and astronomy take center stage in this animated series from PBS Kids. Join us July 1st at 3 PM for a fun afternoon as we explore the universe through games and crafts. Light refreshments will be served.


LEGO® Rover Races

Come use our LEGO® bricks to build a LEGO® Rover on July 8th at 3 PM. Race it down the Martian terrain against other junior engineers and maybe you can save the world! We will display the rovers for all to see until the next LEGO® Club meeting. 


American Girl Doll Party

You are cordially invited to an American Girl Doll Party at C. E. Weldon Public Library on July 15th at 3 PM. Join us for an hour of NASA-related fun! Styles on Broadway of Martin will be here to give you “galaxy nails”. Light refreshments will be served. Remember to bring your doll.


Hooked on Science

Jason Lindsey from WPSD Local 6 will be here on July 22nd at 3 PM. He will be presenting A Universe of Science. From which planet has the most volcanoes, to why Mars is red, to what the great red spot is on Jupiter, to where the wind is more than 1000 mph, and more, students discover some of the most out of this world science about our amazing solar system.

Games and Snacks

In partnership with … the library will be offering free snacks to children aged 0-18 each day of the Summer Reading Program at 11 AM. Because the drinks and snacks must be consumed while in the library, we will have board games and cards available to play.


Code Club

Enter the universe of coding! Code club is a weekly time when kids can come and learn how to make websites, video games, and apps. It’s informal, fun, and very interactive. Come have fun, make friends, and build cool stuff with us! We meet every Tuesday at 3:30 PM. No coding experience required! If you are not able to come at the scheduled time, please contact Ms. Jenny in the children’s department. This program is made possible through a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the North Dakota State Library in partnership with Prenda and the Association for Rural & Small Libraries.


Cosmic Arts

Cosmic Arts is a weekly art class for children in Kindergarten through 12th grade that meets each Wednesday morning at 10 AM. Experiment with different techniques while creating one of a kind works of art! Display your artwork in the library or take it home to enjoy.


Pokemon Club

All ages are encouraged to participate in Pokemon Club! Play this iconic card game against your friends and others. Don’t know how to play? Pokemon Professor, Jared Teague, will be on hand to answer all your questions! We will meet at the following times throughout the summer:

Story Hour

The library provides story hour for children three to five years old throughout the Summer Reading Program. We meet every Tuesday at 10:00 AM and enjoy an hour of short films, music, crafts, snacks, and listening to books.


Mommy and Me

Mommy & Me meets on Tuesdays at 10:00 AM for children under the age of three. The program lasts about 15-20 minutes and consists of songs, puppets, finger plays, bubbles and more.

Lego Club

Come join us for an hour of unstructured LEGO play, with LEGOs provided. We meet on Wednesdays at 3:30 PM. All ages are invited to build. To be eligible for the door prize each participant will have to create some type of structure.


Game On

Game On meets every Friday from 3 to 5 PM. We have 2 Xbox Ones and a WII in the Children's Area. We have a wide selection of games including Minecraft, Rocket League, Mario Cart and many others. Middle Schoolers and High Schoolers have a separate program in the conference room.

Weakley County Reading Railroad

The Weakley County Reading Railroad is a cooperative effort by the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, the Governor's Books from Birth Foundation, and the county. The goal is for all preschoolers in the state to have their own Imagination Library. A book is mailed to each child who participates every month until their fifth birthday, absolutely free. To participate the child must reside in Weakley County. Registration forms can be picked up at the  C. E. Weldon Public Library and all other public libraries in Weakley County or you may register online here.
